Storm Information

The main pier at the Marina is approximately 2.24' above MHHW (or 5' above MLLW).  Tidal range (GT) is 2.76'.  The maximum tide recorded was 5.26 above MHHW.

 

Tidal charts are available at NOAA Tides and Currents.  The National Weather Service Tide prediction chart for Sewells Point provides relevant tide prediction information.

 

Prevailing wind direction and speed are also critical to monitor during significant storm events.  High, driving winds from the NE force water up the Nansemond River and into Bennetts Creek.  Wind speed and direction can be tracked on the National Weather Service site.
